The architects envision a terrain-like structure that ascends from the Maas riverbanks, guiding visitors through lush landscapes, tiered platforms, educational exhibits, and scenic overlooks, all while maintaining a deep connection with nature.
The 'Rotterdam ROCKS!' proposal challenges the notion of a conventional, isolated monument by transforming a significant portion of the building into an accessible public space. Comprising seven stacked, permeable volumes, the design features a series of cavernous interiors and elevated terraces, seamlessly connecting various exhibition areas, hospitality services, and outdoor pathways. Guests can ascend the building's exterior to reach breathtaking panoramic viewpoints of Rotterdam.
