Successfully navigating the "Apprentice Healer" quest in Phantom Blade Zero requires players to locate three specific medicinal herbs for the character Yu'er. This task can be quite challenging, particularly as two of the necessary herbs are situated within a concealed valley, access to which demands the completion of certain preliminary objectives. This guide aims to simplify the process by providing clear instructions on where to find each herb and how to overcome any obstacles in your path.
Embarking on the Healing Journey
The "Apprentice Healer" quest, Yu'er's second request, can be initiated by speaking with her at the Outpost, the initial settlement encountered in the Weeping Creek Valley. Although it follows the "Flesh Lily" quest, completing the latter is not a prerequisite. Yu'er will appear at the Outpost after you have vanquished Peng Meng, The Axemaster, and can be found near the blacksmith, adjacent to the Outpost Bell. Upon engaging with her, she will provide a recipe and task you with collecting three medicinal herbs to aid the wounded, setting you on your healing journey.
To commence the "Apprentice Healer" quest, players must first engage in dialogue with Yu'er at the Outpost in Weeping Creek Valley. This interaction is pivotal as it provides the recipe for the medicinal concoction and outlines the primary objective: gathering three specific herbs. Yu'er's presence at the Outpost is contingent upon the player's prior success in defeating Peng Meng, The Axemaster. Once this formidable foe is overcome, Yu'er will materialize near the Outpost Bell, conveniently situated beside the blacksmith. Approaching her at this location will automatically trigger the quest, providing players with the necessary instructions to begin their search for the crucial ingredients. It is important to note that while this quest is the second one offered by Yu'er, there is no requirement to complete her previous task, "Flesh Lily," to embark on this particular mission.
Locating the Elusive Medicinal Herbs
While the approximate locations of the three herbs are indicated on your map, the lack of detailed cartography can make finding them a significant challenge. A crucial prerequisite for acquiring the second and third herbs is the completion of the main storyline within Weeping Creek Valley, specifically by defeating the primary antagonist, The Hunt. This involves obtaining the Sha-Chi Tower Base Camp Gate Key using the Hunter's Chain Sickle from the pinnacle of Sha-Chi Tower, and subsequently unlocking the gate at the Creek Valley Plains Entrance bell. Once these objectives are met, you can proceed to collect the Blood-Stopper Vine, Congealeaf, and Blemish Goldweed.
To successfully acquire all three medicinal herbs, players must meticulously follow a series of steps, keeping in mind the often-vague in-game map. The initial herb, Blood-Stopper Vine, is located on the path directly east of The Axemaster's Holding Cell. Players should carefully descend into the gorge on the left while crossing the bridge towards Creek Valley Plains Entrance, defeat any adversaries, and retrieve the glowing orange item. For the second herb, Congealeaf, start at the Long Pillar Overlook bell and proceed east along the main road. After passing the watchtower, avoid dropping into the lower valley; instead, utilize the wall run ability to maintain the higher path. The Congealeaf will be found further ahead, adjacent to a large rock formation and opposite the cave entrance that requires the Rusted Loong Key. Finally, to find the Blemish Goldweed, teleport to Weeping Creek Long Pillar. If you haven't been there, first acquire the Rusted Loong Key from the chest at the Long Pillar Overlook bell and traverse through the caves. From Weeping Creek Long Pillar, take the path northwest of the massive dragon statue. The Blemish Goldweed will be on the right side of the path, a short distance ahead. Upon collecting all three herbs, return to Yu'er to complete the quest and receive the Medicine Case accessory.
