A Glimpse into the Future: Andy and Emily's Reunion

The newest preview for the much-anticipated follow-up to 'The Devil Wears Prada' has just been released. In this exciting new footage, we witness Andy, portrayed by Anne Hathaway, and her former colleague Emily, played by Emily Blunt, meeting again, highlighting the developments and constants in their lives since their original encounter. Emily remarks on Andy's transformation, noting, “You’ve changed. You’re much more confident,” while playfully adding, “You kept those eyebrows, though, didn’t you?”

Fashion Icons Reunite: Miranda and Nigel at the Met Gala

The trailer also provides fleeting views of Miranda Priestly, brought to life by Meryl Streep, and Stanley Tucci's character, Nigel, attending the prestigious Met Gala, further hinting at the glamorous events and high-stakes fashion moments awaiting audiences.

Stars Reflect: Returning to Beloved Roles After Two Decades

Before the trailer's debut, Streep, Hathaway, Blunt, and Tucci engaged in a discussion with Vogue, sharing insights into the making of this eagerly awaited sequel. Streep likened the experience to "going into the back of your own closet and finding something, thinking, Oh, I wonder if this still fits?" Blunt expressed a similar sentiment, describing her return as "coming home," though she lightheartedly questioned her effortless reprisal of her "lunatic" character: "This character seems to be the glove that fits rather too easily for me. She’s a lunatic. Maybe I should question myself on that: why it seems so easy to step back into her.”

Fan Frenzy: Public Reaction to the Sequel's Filming

Streep and Blunt also touched upon the overwhelming public interest in the sequel, which led to significant crowds and a flood of photos and videos on social media during filming in New York. Blunt commented on this phenomenon, observing, “All of this attention and obsession with the quick consumption of this movie before it’s even out … in many ways is emblematic of how our industry and our lives have changed.” Streep recalled the jubilant atmosphere, particularly on Sixth Avenue, contrasting it with the indifference shown two decades prior. She was genuinely surprised by the "roar" from fans, especially during the filming of the Met Ball scene, where some even dressed as Miranda.

The World of Runway in 2026: New Challenges and Character Journeys

Scheduled for a May 1 release by Disney’s 20th Century Studios, 'The Devil Wears Prada 2' brings back the original director, David Frankel, and screenwriter, Aline Brosh McKenna. The sequel's plot revolves around Miranda and Runway magazine navigating the complexities facing print media in 2026, leading to a clash with Emily, who is now at the helm of a luxury brand. Andy, having embarked on a career as a globe-trotting reporter, makes her way back to Runway, her experiences influencing her unique fashion sense.

Andy's Evolving Style: A Reporter's Wardrobe

Costume designer Molly Rogers elaborated on Andy's updated style, noting, “You see her come back to Runway from her reporting job and she’s figuring herself out again, professionally and emotionally. We distinguish her from the heel-clackers with menswear and vintage touches, and that New York style of character.” Hathaway herself revealed her involvement in crafting Andy's character arc, explaining, “I made it an actual story point in the film that we had to explain how somebody who, working as a writer in these times, could have a fabulous wardrobe. I pitched that Andy went on to do investigative journalism, traveled the world for 15 years… and when you’ve had an education at a place like Runway, you know what to do when you see a consignment shop. So she’s been thrifting for the better part of 20 years. And then the magic closet moment comes back with Nigel.” The sequel is produced by Wendy Finerman and executive produced by Michael Bederman, Karen Rosenfelt, and McKenna.
