Secure Your Share: Don't Miss the Amazon Prime Refund Deadline!
The Amazon Prime Settlement Overview
Amazon is required to pay $1.5 billion to customers as part of a settlement with the Federal Trade Commission. This mandate comes after allegations that the company enrolled individuals in Amazon Prime without explicit consent and complicated the cancellation process. Customers have until July 27, 2026, to file their claims for a refund.
Determining Your Eligibility for a Refund
You may be eligible for a refund of up to $51 in Amazon Prime subscription fees if you meet specific conditions and have not yet received an automatic refund. Eligibility requires that you enrolled in Amazon Prime in the U.S. between June 23, 2019, and June 23, 2025, through a process challenged by the FTC, or that you attempted to cancel your membership online during this period without success. Additionally, you must have utilized fewer than 10 Prime benefits within a year of your membership.
Steps to File Your Refund Claim
To claim your refund, visit the official settlement website and locate the 'File Claim' option. If Amazon has already sent you a notice via mail or email, you should use the provided Claim ID and PIN. For those who did not receive a notice but believe they qualify, you can still submit a claim by providing your personal details and explaining your eligibility. Amazon will verify your claim against its records.
Payment Processing and Timeline
Once your claim is submitted, Amazon will take up to 30 days to review it. All refunds are scheduled to be disbursed by September 2026. Payments will be made through PayPal, Venmo, or by mailed check, based on your preference indicated during the claim submission process.
